grand plans for outdoor spaces

Welcome

When you have a home you love it’s natural to want a garden that you can be proud of, that inspires you and is a lovely place to spend time in. Creating that space can be a labour of love, but for many people the prospect can be overwhelming and not something they feel up to tackling on their own.

Having someone experienced take care of not only an inspiring creative concept, but every detail of the building and planting is reassuring and enables you to really enjoy your garden without the worry of getting it right.

Your garden should be a place that resonates with you, your home and the landscape around you. It can be a wonderful place to be that has the power to make your heart sing. It all begins with beautiful and brilliant design and a designer committed to excellence at every stage.  Thats where I come in.

Working with a me will transform your garden into a space you love, add value to your home and, with my professional yet down to earth approach, make the whole process a thoroughly enjoyable one for you.

My design process has been honed over years or working with hundreds of clients and my experience of implementing those gardens means you will be in safe hands at every step of the way.

If you’d like an outdoor space to be truly proud of, I’d love to hear from you.

Gardens

Below is a selection of the gardens I've created with my clients.  They range from large informal family spaces to smaller city courtyards but they've all been designed to ensure that they relate to the architecture of the house, the landscape beyond the boundaries and to inspire the people they have been created for.

I love creating generous and free-flowing gardens that are very much in touch with the surrounding landscape.

Design Inspiration

Design Inspiration

Design inspiration

I'm at my most inspired when I'm outside, especially when I have my camera in hand.  Some how when you look through the lens of a camera you see things in a closer and more intimate way.  It could be the way the light is catching the leaves of a plant or highlighting an interesting pattern or texture on the side of a building or it could just be a beautiful rose with the most perfect blooms.

Finding time to go outside is really important to me.  I'm so lucky to be living in the most amazing location, on the side of a hill in Monmouthshire where we have the most amazing view to the Black Mountains.  It really does make my heart sing!

I wanted to share a small selection of the images that have fed my inspiration.  You'll notice that often it's not about walking around other peoples gardens.  I love architecture, materials, textures and light.

Working with me

Working with me

in safe hands

I passionately believe that a robust design process is key to the success of any design project and that my role as a designer is to guide you through that process.  I’ll be with you every step of the way, from the very first sketch ideas to the point where the garden is yours to enjoy.

Detailed drawings and specifications are absolutely key as without them the landscaper won’t be able to build the garden as we intended.  Inevitably questions will arise so it’s my job to ensure that the design we have agreed is the garden that you end up with.

I’m here as a very safe pair of hands to take the stresses away and make the whole process exciting, energising and inspiring!

start as we mean to go on

I pride myself on excellent working relationships with all my clients. It’s so important to establish whether we’re a good fit so the design process starts with a free no obligation 30 minute chemistry call. If we feel that we’ll work well together, and that I am the right designer for you, we then move on to a face to face briefing meeting to clearly establish how we can best work and for me to understand exactly what you want from your garden.

let’s get excited

Before design, a full survey gives us the technical details we need. Then we can get on with the creative part of the process. This is where we can begin to get really excited about the possibilities for your space and how to make it all work beautifully. I’ll produce concepts and designs drawings for you and detailed specifications to enable landscapers to quote accurately for the build phase of the project.

bringing it all to life

You’ll see your garden really start to take shape as we get into the construction. My aim is to take all the hard work out of it for you and make it as seamless and stress free as humanly possible. I’m on hand to work closely with the contractors, answering any questions that arise and to make sure your beautiful design is executed in all it’s perfect detail.

about your designer

Lisa cox has been designing gardens since setting up Lisa Cox Garden Design in 2008 after transitioning out of a corporate career that wasn’t fulfilling her desire for more creativity. Making the best of both worlds, she brings her high standards of professionalism from corporate life and marries those with her excellent communication and creative skills in design to delight her clients.

Originally based in Surrey, her early work focused on bringing her unmistakeable design style to a huge range of projects. She was known for designing both beautiful and functional gardens that made the best creative use of space to add beauty and value to stylish town and country properties.

Over the years she has transformed hundreds of gardens and worked throughout the UK and Europe designing contemporary town gardens and stunning country estates.

She achieved her diploma in Garden design from the Garden Design School where she now mentors up and coming designers to develop their practice and establish themselves in the industry.

A twice RHS award winner at both Chelsea and Cardiff in 2012 and 2015, Lisa’s reputation for style, balance and beauty sets her apart in the industry.

Since moving to Wales in 2015 her focus has been on giving form and function to rural gardens that bridge the natural landscape and the unique architecture of each home, giving her clients beautiful gardens they can really enjoy spending time in.

She is one of only two registered members of the Society of Garden Designers in Wales and, as a cluster leader, coordinates a peer network group that ensures, through regular CPD, that high standards are maintained in the industry.

Lisa works with a trusted network of professional landscapers and specialist craftspeople that she has nurtured good relationships with over the years to help bring her designs to life. Her collaborative approach with her clients ensures they feel part of their new garden from the very first moment of its creation.
